Food additive E 282 is used in small amounts in winemaking. The preservative protects the drink from premature ripening. Calcium salt of propionic acid is used to treat the surface of hard cheeses. Synthetic substance is allowed in production:

processed cheeses (in a composition with sorbic or propionic acid), no more than 3 g per kilogram of the product;
low-calorie flour products, up to 2 g;
bread with a long shelf life (sliced, packaged in bags), up to 3 g;
soy and wine sauces.
Widely used food preservative E 282 in mixtures that improve the quality of flour. This allows you to protect the bread from mold and infection with "potato disease".
Other uses: no more than 2% of the total weight of the product is added to cosmetic creams and pastes to extend the shelf life;
the pharmaceutical industry uses e 282 additive in ophthalmic antibacterial drugs;
it can be found in dry pet food; in animal husbandry for the prevention and treatment of parturient paresis and ketosis in cows.
